I often hear parents say, “My child never puts the phone down.” Sadly, I see the same pattern everywhere. Even very young children demand expensive smartphones. Many dream of owning the latest iPhone before they even understand its true value.

Whenever I speak to children, many barely look up from their screens. They hear my voice but rarely listen. This worries me deeply because this problem has become a silent epidemic. Today, experts call it doomscrolling.

What Is Doomscrolling?

Doomscrolling means endlessly scrolling through social media without any purpose. You keep watching one reel after another. Before you realize it, hours have disappeared.

Your mind stops focusing. Your attention keeps jumping. Moreover, your brain constantly searches for the next exciting video.

This habit slowly becomes an addiction.

The frightening part is that most people do not even notice it.

Why Smartphones Are Designed to Keep You Hooked

Let us accept one uncomfortable truth.

Bright colors attract your eyes. Notifications demand your response. Short videos keep your curiosity alive. Every swipe promises something more exciting.

Consequently, your brain receives small bursts of dopamine repeatedly.

Soon, your mind starts craving another scroll, another reel, and another notification.

Therefore, putting the phone away becomes surprisingly difficult.

Children Are Becoming the Biggest Victims

Children’s brains are still developing. Their ability to focus, learn, and control emotions grows during childhood. Unfortunately, constant screen exposure interrupts this natural development. Many children now struggle to:
