balance

Recently I met a person which made me realize how important the organization of life is. The man was blessed with a loving family and a caring father who was a great business man. He was not all disciplined, had no routine, and also did not help his father much in his business.

But one day his father died suddenly? Now he was all shattered and it was time for the transition of his life. He realized that he had to take care of his family and children and run the business as well.

He thus gathered all his strength and courage and decided to organize his life. He started with planning and determining the goals of his life.

He planned his daily routine activities, organized his life and the day-to-day tasks, became more active, started practicing discipline, and keeping himself clean and updated all time.

He had to manage the home and business as well. He fixed his priorities and started doing everything in an organized and well-planned manner. His routine was action-oriented and had no stress giving elements. he didn’t run in hassle. Instead, he took tiny guided steps that not only saved his productive time but took him nearer to his goal every day.

Soon he was able to create balance in his life and manage everything. His home, relations, and business as well. This was all possible when he dumped his laziness and inculcated the habit of organization within him.

Conclusion

Yes, the organization of life needs efforts, but the efforts are worth it. Living a blind life without any aim, all clumsy and dirty makes life no less than hell. No one can have a perfect life but we can make our life happy and desirable by making the organization as our daily habit. Getting organized in life means avoiding last-minute hassles and making life easier in long run. Planning in life and then organization is an important trait of all successful people on this planet.

Confine All Family Problems With Simple Family Problem Solutions

No family in the world is perfect. You might visit a friend or colleague and love their hospitality. Once you’re home, you think to yourself, “I wish I had a family like theirs.”

It is human nature to believe everything is better on the other side. We often see other families and think about how the other person has such a perfect family. There is always a half-truth in our thoughts.

What may seem perfect to us might not be perfect to others. Every family has its own problems. Family issues are very common in today’s time when everyone wants independence and freedom of speech.

Family problems can manifest even in the happiest families. It can result in a challenging and frustrating home environment. The interactions between family members can turn tense.

While I was young, people used to look at our family and think we were a very happy and complete family. Guests who would come to our place would often say, “You are such a sweet and perfect family.”

Little did they know the struggle we had to go through each day. My mother started staying unwell when I was quite young. She would behave weirdly at times. All of a sudden, she would get aggressive, abusive, or sad. We thought it was her nature. I was in class sixth when I started teaching tuitions to run our house.

When I had to give my tenth board, she would not let me study and call me, again and again. I had to gather a lot of determination to be able to complete my study. However, around that time, her condition started deteriorating, and she would often talk about committing suicide. It was 1982, and we could not really understand her condition.

When finally we took her to a hospital, it was detected that she was suffering from severe depression. The doctors said it was too late for them to start the treatment, but they decided to give her electric shocks. No matter how late we were, we saved her life. Her medications were managed by me and soon she recovered. Our awareness and dedication could save her life.

I was just ten when I had to take the charge of the complete family. I was earning, studying, doing household chores, and managing everything single-handedly. To other people, our family seemed normal, but it is only us who know how we zoned out of that critical time.

What I am trying to say is, no matter how much we believe that it is only our family that has problems, every family has it’s own struggles. No family is perfect, and you don’t need to create havoc of family problems.

Family Issues and its Consequences

Family issues can be manifested even in the healthiest of families. As soon as a family issue arises, the situation becomes tense, and the communication becomes rigid.

Family issues can be challenging, frustrating, and painful for the family problems. The little irritations of today can lead to bigger problems tomorrow. Family issues can start with buried resentments to dramatic arguments.

Family is the purest bond in the world. Everyone expects someone to be emotionally supportive to them. When we come home, we all seek harmony and peace. However, with family problems, people end up coming to heated arguments, feelings of guilt, disappointment, and anger.

Many times when a problem arises, the counter-effects overshadow the root cause of the problem. The issues that are brought up during these times were not even known that existed. The consequences of family issues are devastating. A person experiences the most intense emotions during such situations.

What are the most common causes of family problems?

Family is the support system of everyone. We all rely on our family for emotional, financial, mental, and social support. Family provides strength and unbiased feedback to us. We feel love and concern for our family members, and it is why we somehow break emotionally when something wrong happens to them.

Family Problem Solutions

However, it has been developed that only a few families can meet this expectation all the time. As I had discussed earlier, a family that might seem ideal from away might not be ideal in reality. They might have their own amount of stress, misunderstandings, disconnections, and disloyalty.

According to my experience, these are some common causes of family problems.

  • Financial Reasons

One of the most common causes of family problems is financial reasons. In India, it is seen that most disputes arise over wealth and finances. It is commonly seen that siblings fight with one another over the inheritance of their parent’s finances. Being a lawyer and a family coach, I meet many clients coming with such issues.

Another financial problem that leads to family problems is the lack of money. A person is expected to earn and support the family finances. From utility bills, grocery bills, to rent, every basic family necessity needs finances. When a family lacks money and is unable to support the family efficiently, it leads to family conflicts.

  • Staying Away from Family

One of the most neglected reasons for the rise in family problems is the moving away of children from their families. Children move to different cities or countries at a very young age for study or job purposes. When a person stays away from home for a long time, they learn to live an independent life. I have seen many children who find it very hard to adjust to their families upon returning from a different country.

They feel they are not given enough space or listened to. When they are alone, they have the liberty to manage things in their own way. However, in a family, you need to behave and work according to the family environment and it leads to bigger conflicts. Even after marriage, many couples find it hard to adjust in the families because of the carefree and independent life they were living before.

  • Sibling Rivalry

Sibling rivalry is by far the most complained and common cause of family issues. Many people who come for counseling for family problem solutions have problems with their siblings. In fact, sometimes even a minor issue can turn into a big problem in the future. Parents do not realize, but sibling rivalry often starts when parents start comparing their kids.

Parents build competition between their children, and they never form a loving bond. They see the other sibling as a competitor and not a family. Be it for grades, studies, jobs, relationships, or friends, the competition gets life-long. If you wish to prevent any conflicts in the future, you have to be very careful while raising siblings.

Also, some sibling rivalries are not because of comparative parenting. In India, sibling rivalries for property and inherited wealth are one of the most common family problems. Families spend years and years over a disputed family but do not solve their family problems.

  • In-Laws and Extra Interference

Many times families do not encounter any family problem unless one of their sons gets married. A family might be happy and content throughout, but when it comes to in-laws and extended families, conflicts start to arise. When a girl becomes a part of a family post her wedding, the family and girl both need to adjust and adapt to the newer environment.

However, if either of them is stubborn or too rigid to change and adjust, problems are bound to arise. The family needs to make changes to welcome a new family member and help her feel comfortable. On the other hand, the girl should also learn to respect the family values and take the new family as her own.

The constant interference of in-laws or other family members is never liked by anyone. It can lead to negativity in hearts and distance in bonds.

  • Single Parent Family Problems

Single-parent families have seen a rise over the past few years. One of the most common reasons for the increase in single parents is the lack of commitment and more independence among people. Today, children are young and dynamic. They are confident enough to take their own life decisions. If they feel unhappy with a relationship, they do not think of compromising at any step.

Today, both men and women are financially independent, and so if they have to make crucial decisions such as a divorce, they think more practically than emotionally. Being a single parent myself, I know the struggles and hardships a single parent has to go through.

In fact, many times families do not support their child’s decision to remain a single parent. It creates even more problems for them, and their struggles increase even more.

  • Stress in Marriage Life

Marriage is a pious bond between two individuals. When two people are tied in the bond of marriage, they dream of a happy and exciting life ahead. Things might not go as smoothly as you expect. Problems in marriages are extremely common. You might not experience them initially, but with passing time, you’ll start seeing differences and the true side of your partner.

Sometimes marriages turn toxic with time. My husband and I had a great and happy married life initially. Everyone in my in-laws loved me and respected me. However, my husband started indulging himself in extra-marital affairs. My relationship kept going toxic. We had severe problems at our family end, while we pretended to be a happy family to others. In this way, marriages become weak and boring with a time that leads to many family problems.

  • Child Issues

One reason that I think often leads to family problems is the decision of giving birth to a child. Today, science has made a lot of progress, however, the inability to conceive still remains a hot topic of family problems.

Many families face problems in child-birth, and sooner or later, it starts soaring relationships. Couples have to go through a hard time emotionally, and somehow it starts bringing differences in families.

Another reason for family issues is the decision to not have a baby by one of the partners. Sometimes, the husband or wife is not ready to become parents, and it starts causing trouble in their relationship. The decision of not having or the inability to have a baby creates significant family problems.

  • Parent-Child relationship

A generation gap has always been a cause of concern in family relations. Many times kids do not respect or follow their family-values or want to modernize things at their homes.

However, orthodox families ate too rigid to adapt to the new cultures and changes. Their stubborn nature often causes problems in their relationships. Many parents who come to me for counseling often complain that their children do not obey them or follow their guidelines.

The communication gap between a parent and child creates family problems in almost every household.

7 Most Common Family Issues

Each family has issues, and the sooner we understand that there is no ‘amazing cheerful closure’ of any story, the better we will be at dealing with the circumstance. Each individual has imperfections thus does each family. However, the issues you may be confronting are extremely regular regardless of whether you think you have the most exceedingly terrible situation of all.

Some common family problems faced by people are:

  • Constant Arguments: Many families have an environment where argumentation is very common. An argument between two individuals spoils the environment for everyone in the family. Even in married couples, arguments are one of the most common family issues.
  • Parental Restrictions: Most family fights are about kids and their raising. It begins with the decision of having kids or not and ends up in almost all aspects of life. From schools, courses, colleges, names, and lots of other things about the child.
  • Work-Life and Home Balance: Another common family issue remains between the decision of giving priority to your career or family. No matter what you prioritize, make sure you create a balance and manage your time to serve both places.
  • Improper Communication: Many families hardly communicate with one another. It is because of the busy lifestyle that today people hardly take out family-time. It often leads to miscommunications and family issues. Open communication is the key to a happy family.
  • Stressful Member: There’s no doubt that most of the time, it isn’t the entire family, but a certain family member that stresses you out. It can be your wife, child, or extended family. If you have a personal clash, it will always raise issues in the family. If the other person isn’t ready to change, then you should change and move ahead in life.
  • Home Duties: Today, both men and women are equal. Not only outside the home but also inside. However, many people expect the lady of the house to do all the household chores. It leads to a lot of chaos and problems in the family. The distribution of chores should be equal for husband and wife.
  • Divorce: Divorce is not a family problem but a family destruction. It is one of the ugliest family issues. Not only the couple but the entire family has to go through a stressful phase. Even if you’ve decided to take a divorce, it is better to move ahead with things peacefully.

Effortless Family Problem Solutions

On the off chance that you are experiencing family issues that you can’t move away through, then you are not alone. Everybody endures problems when living in a family. Marrying the person you love and beginning a family isn’t a fantasy. A few issues run over the excursion, yet there are likewise a lot of approaches to deal with those issues.

  • Adjustment

One crucial way of solving almost all kinds of family problems is the adjustment. When we live in a family, each person is different from one other. Your opinion might not match the other person. But, this doesn’t make any one of your opinions better. Living in a family is all about adjustment. From sharing rooms, personal space, kitchen to sharing beds, a family is all about love.

When you learn about other family members, their nature, and attitude, it gets easier for you to live with them. However, if you remain rigid and are not ready to change a bit, then living in a family gets arduous. Parents often ignore many mistakes of their kids because they are family, and they need to adapt and adjust to each other. In the same way, if you wish to end all your family problems, then start adjusting to the people around you.

  • Share feelings with each other

Lack of communication slowly destroys relationships. Families are strengthened by communication. You should create a family environment where all of you share your feelings, thoughts, and fears openly. It will create a harmonious family environment. If you are a parent and your child is too afraid to share his feelings with you, then it is a critical family problem. Being parents, you should always show support to your children so that they share their worries and mistakes with you.

  • Respect All The Members of Family

I often see that parents never show respect to their children. Elders always expect that they should be regarded and respected by the younger people of the family. However, when it comes to respecting the younger family members, people do not take them seriously. No matter how you are related, when living in a family, it is essential that all family members feel equally respected and valued. It will not only solve the ongoing family problems but will also prevent any future problems.

  • Family Counselling

Family counselling is the best and most effective way of dealing with all sorts of family problems. A family coach will not only listen to your problems but will also guide you about the solutions. Being a life coach myself, I have helped many families get-over their lifelong problems.

A family counselor will end your problems from the root. I use innovative and quantitative methods to help revive family problems. You may even opt for marriage counseling or parent counseling based on your needs. If you are a single parent, then family counselling can also help you deal with single parent family problems.

  • Seek Help

When you acknowledge a problem in your family, you have already taken the first step towards its solution. Many families are too afraid or feel ashamed of accepting that there’s anything wrong with their families. A family issue cannot be resolved, unless you accept that a problem exists.

Ignoring problems and thinking that they’ll go away on their own will only fuel the issues. The more time you take to resolve family problems, the more you’ll culminate in negative behavior. It might even start affecting the health of a person. So, identify the problem, understand the cause, and work on the solution. You can take help from a counselor, family coach, or some trusted people around you.

No family in the world is perfect. You might visit a friend or colleague and love their hospitality. Once you’re […]

Improve Communication to Improve Work and Life

Improve Communication to Improve Work and Life

Communication is one of the most crucial aspects of life. We do not even realize how our life revolves around communication. Our life is all about the way we communicate with the people around us.

Many people do not understand how communication can make or break a person’s personality. The first thing that people judge is how you communicate with others. I have seen many people who are smart, dashing and educated. However, when they talk, one can feel the lack of good communication skills. Many people dress-well on the outside, but they start talking, everyone looks here and there to avoid awkwardness.

There’s nothing wrong with poor communication skills. What is wrong is that even when people have the opportunity to improve it, they still do not want to change. There can be many reasons behind this attitude. One of the prime reasons is that they don’t know they have poor communication.

Being an entrepreneur, I deal with many employees each day. Some of them are super-confident and effective communicators, while some prefer to avoid eye-contact. Communication plays a critical role in the workplace. You are always judged by the way you speak, listen, and respond.

I remember once we were having a team-building meeting. We were working on a new project, and I decided to form teams for the same. While everyone was putting their points and thoughts, I realized one of our meeting members was busy using his phone.

I all of a sudden asked him which members he wanted in his team. Baffled and surprised, he did not know what to say. He replies,” Yes, I think it is a great idea.”

Everyone started laughing, and he made a fool of himself in the meeting. He was attentive in the beginning, and though we’re still deciding if team formation was a good idea, and gave answers accordingly.

In this way, many times, we do not even realize how our personality development suffers due to poor communication. If a person truly wishes to become confident and excelled, then the first thing one needs to work upon is their way of talking.

What are good communication skills?

Effective communication is perhaps the most crucial life skill. It is how you not only pass information to other people, but also understand what is being said to you. Communication is simply an act of transferring information from one place to another. Have you seen a baby trying to communicate his words? An infant might not be able to use words but listens intently to its mother. He or she also tries to repeat the sounds that are being made.

Many people believe communication is all about the way you talk to the people around you. But, communication is a two-way process. It includes listening and responding. A person with good communication skills is someone who listens to the conversation attentively, thinks of an apt answer, and then replies.

Good communication skills take you a long way. From effective communication at the workplace to personal life to social gatherings and all other aspects depend directly on the way you communicate.

Why do you need to improve communication?

Communication might be an easy task for some, while a life-haunting task for others. Some people have a natural aptitude to say the right thing at the right time without faltering their words. The tone of a good communicator is always engaging. However, for some people communicating effectively is an uphill battle.

No matter what type of communicator you are, it is a vital component of life. All the aspects of life move around good communication. More importantly, when it comes to career opportunities, the role of good communication cannot be separated.

From relations to businesses, sales, friendships, and even family bonds, all directly depend on the way you communicate with other people.

Here are the top 5 reasons why you need to improve your communication skills.

  • Construct Compatibility

The way we talk gives our first impression to the other person. In fact, the first few seconds of communication are enough for the other person to judge you. If you want to lay a favorable impression on someone, learning good communication is essential. Building compatibility is not only about forming new relations or friends. If a person wants to form profitable partnerships in businesses, then communication is the key. Well, you might not get a long time to leave an impression. Therefore, it is quite necessary to use strong communication in the form of verbal, listening, and body language.

  • Builds Trust

“A man is what he speaks.” It is an old saying, but rightly defines the importance of your words. In any business or relationship, it is very critical to develop openness and trust. Communication in the workplace is a real thing. For instance, if you and your co-workers are working on a project together, it demands open and clear communication. Even if one of the team-member has poor communication, it will affect the result of the entire team.

Good communication helps you build trust and respect. When you are working in a team or individually, how efficiently you present your ideas decides everything. So, this is another reason why you should improve communication.

  • Listening Skills

As I had discussed before, communication is not only about speaking, it is also about listening to the other person. Listening is a very good life-skill. A common habit that is vital in all areas of life is listening. If you are a good listener, you will definitely become a great speaker. A person who thinks about the next sentence before speaking can never lose the track of the conversation.

However, today people are in a rush! Conversations are all about responding and not about understanding. If you listen actively, you’ll be able to respond in a more targeted way. It builds an unbreakable conversation and connection. Also, it saves you both time and reduces conflicts. Poor listening is also the reason for many misunderstandings. So, improving communication will simplify your life.

  • Makes You Creative

Another reason why you need to improve communication is that it leads to successful idea generation. Let us talk about the workplace, generating ideas in the business arena is necessary. But, it requires a special skill-set. Now, you might be creative and have great ideas in your head.

However, when it comes to presenting or expressing your ideas to others, you go numb. The ability to present ideas positively and clearly requires excellent communication skills.

  • Leave An Impact

Today, there is cutting-edge competition for people. Every office has hundreds of employees running after one position. What will make you stand out from the crowd? Effective communication. If you speak confidently, listen attentively, and respond clearly, then no one can neglect your presence.

Many companies require employees to take greater responsibilities these days. You may be expected to present high-powered meetings or seminars. When you are expected to stand in front of an audience, you would not want to fumble. Any place where you have to speak confidently can be nerve-wracking.

Improving communication helps you overcome nerves and speak with authority. Your body language and how you reach out to the audience make all the difference. So, you need to be an avid communicator to face this fast-paced work culture.

Communication in the workplace

If after home there’s a place where you need to communicate the most, it is your workplace. Well, communication in the workplace is highly essential. From clearing interviews to managing team projects, it is your communication that can build rapport.

skills you need

Being an entrepreneur, I meet many people who excel in their skills but are unable to garner a big job due to poor communication. Big companies lay a lot of emphasis on communication. It is because they want people who are good with words to spread their company’s name. When you’re an employee of a particular company, you are representing their brand. No company would prefer a person who chooses the wrong words.

At a workplace, many types of communications take place. Verbal communications, non-verbal communications, meetings, seminars, conferences, and many more. The best part is, the communication pattern remains the same.

Communication in the workplace should be clear and confident. If you want the other person to be convinced of your idea, you should be confident in what you speak. Maintaining proper body language is necessary for clear communication at the workplace.

Importance of effective team communication

When you are working in a company, significant decisions and work are done in teams. Most projects are allocated to teams rather than individual employees. Now, when one works with a team, the role of communication expands even more.

Effective team communication is a must for every employee. If you cannot stand, support, or present your team, it creates a major setback for your career. As I work with my employees, I ensure effective team communication is practiced among employees. It opens many barriers and leads to better outcomes of projects.

How to communicate in a team effectively?

When it comes to team communication, you need to make sure the communication drives unity among employees and empowers the team. Here are some ways to maintain the importance of effective team communication:

  • Create team communication goals: It will ensure that the effectiveness of communication is maintained throughout the team. As a leader or manager, you can create goals that define your objectives. You can also find the areas that need improvement and work on them.
  • Time-To-Time Communications: You cannot interact openly with your team if you’re doing it once in a while. Effective communication can be formed when teams communicate with each other regularly. It not only helps them understand each other but also overcomes their communication barriers.
  • Clear and Specific Communication: When you are working in a team towards a common objective, your personal opinions may not match. However, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t put them forward. You just need to make sure you talk specifically and clearly to your team.
  • Stay Respectful: One major problem of team communication is diversity. Each member of the team can have a unique opinion about the same project. Your opinion might not be supported by others, but you should remain respectful and unbiased to your team members.

Top 6 Ways to Improve Communication

I have handpicked these proven ways to improve communication in the workplace and at home. By adopting these tips, you’ll become a successful and effective leader.

  • Listen Attentively

People often say to me why you emphasize listening when we are here to gather communication tips. Well, it isn’t their fault! Today people believe communication is equal to talking. They often miss a very important aspect of communication, that is listening.

Take yourself as an example. When you speak to someone, you somehow want the other person to listen to you. Everyone wants to know that they are being heard. Even if you have great communication skills, but no one is listening to you, how would anyone notice?

When you involve yourself in a conversation and listen to what is being told, you communicate much better. Sitting half-mindedly in a conversation and replying without knowing the core of the situation will make you look like a fool. Listening attentively avoids misunderstandings and refines a response.

When you are in a conversation, and a person is talking to you, that person should be the most important for you at that time.

  • One Conversation at a Time

Multi-tasking is the new fad. People think they are very smart and can perform multiple tasks at one time. However, when it comes to communicating, multitasking does not work. Many people think they can manage various conversations together, but the human mind is not designed this way.

I remember once I asked an employee to frame an email for an important client for me. While I was busy managing other works, I received an email to go through once. It is my habit to recheck the work before forwarding it to clients. As I went through the email, I found some very vague sentences that made no sense to the topic being discussed. I asked my employee to come to my office and read the email. I asked how he could be so irresponsible and casual about his work. As he read the email he realized what went wrong. Now, while crafting the email, he was on a phone call. He thought he was smart enough to manage both the tasks and saw his results. He mixed the two conversations. In this way, effective communication requires attention. You have to be completely involved and have one conversation at a time. Do not respond to emails while you’re on a phone call or send texts to different people at the same time. The other person easily gets to know that you’re not giving them proper attention.

  • Role Of Body Language

Sometimes people think what they speak is all that matters. Well, it is not true. When it comes to effective communication, your body language plays a critical role. Your body language clearly defines your intention and idea behind communicating. For example, do you remember how in school kids learn an essay and speak it in front of the class? Yes, anyone could easily notice how they repeat like parrots whatever they’ve learned. You would not want to look like them in your office meetings. Face-to-face meetings, seminars, or video conferencing all require you to speak confidently with proper body gestures. Your body language should always be open. Do not cross your arms and sit like a potato. You should use hand gestures to effectively communicate with the audience. Another important aspect of body language is- eye contact. A person who is shy or scared would never catch the eye of the listener. However, making an eye-contact while communicating creates a lasting impression on the other person.

  • Improve Communication at Home

Your improvement in communication begins at home. In fact, I believe how a person communicates largely depends on the person’s family. If all the members of your family are confident and effective speakers, you will somehow learn the same. It is because you are raised in that atmosphere.

On the other hand, many clients or young children visit me who are not allowed to present their thoughts openly. Many clients tell how their families are very strict, and no one has the liberty to share their opinions. A child raised in such an atmosphere would suffer from communication problems in the long run. Your home plays a crucial role in communication. If you wish to improve the communication skills of your child or some other family member, then you first need to create an open communication atmosphere at home. When a child learns to gather thoughts and put forward his or her opinion effectively at home, they can do it confidently in the outside world as well.

  • Analyze The Content

Some people have this vague thought that if they have an audible voice and confident speech, then what they speak doesn’t matter. Communication is all about the way you present your thoughts. No matter how confident you are, if you do not have the right words to justify your thoughts, then you need to re-check.

One such is the case of acronyms and short-forms that are used by today’s generation. People have become so used to texting language that they’ve started adopting the same mannerisms in real-life conversations as well. Most of the time, many people do not even know the right meaning of the acronyms, and it can lead to misunderstandings. Effective communication is the one where you clearly define your idea and the listener is also able to catch your thoughts. A conversation verbal or non-verbal, where you are being misunderstood is of no use.

  • Think before you speak

The biggest communication barrier is talking non-stop without a pause. I have seen many people who talk too fast or find conclusions without even understanding a discussion.

Improve Communication

Effective communication requires patience. You should not throw your answers on the other person. When you are in a discussion, the other person also wants to be heard. I have seen many people who get into a conversation only to respond. Neither do they listen to the other person, nor they think before speaking.

One trait that makes you a better communicator than everyone around you is thinking before speaking. Today people are too busy to wait and think, but once you form the habit of planning your reply before venting it out, a lot of change will be experienced.

All you have to do is listen to the other person, understand the conversation and his point of view, think and frame an answer in your mind, and then use the right words to put forward your thoughts.

Final Takeaway

To move ahead in life and proceed in your career, having good communication skills will prepare you to interview well and gain the career that you want. It also helps in handling difficult situations, overcomes obstacles, showcases your abilities, building an impact, and gaining respect and trust from those who know you.

Communication is one of the most crucial aspects of life. We do not even realize how our life revolves around […]

Save Your Marriage With Counselling And A Bit Of Cooperation

Save Your Marriage With Counselling And A Bit Of Cooperation

Marriage is a serious relationship that binds two souls forever, but it is also one of the most complex relations that exist on Earth. When two unique personalities get tied together, there is possible scope for clashes as well.

Love is an important factor, but not enough for a successful partnership. So, WHAT? Partnerships require concerted work from both sides. They require listening, empathy, awareness, strong boundaries, teamwork & consistency, to name a few. You might need to look for a love marriage problem solution often to deal with your marital problems. Several reasons serve as contact networks between the partners in a marriage talk is not enough. There are many ways such as thoughts, desires, soft-touch, making each other happy can be a more powerful form of communicating to keep the marriage on track and love alive.

Marriage does not require any magic potion to sustain, but all it needs is compromise and a bit of cooperation from both partners. Only this way can the relationship last forever. It is very surprising that many times marriages reach the point of divorce over such petty issues that are impossible to believe.

Changes to expect after getting married

Marriage, both for men and women, is a significant step and a huge life change. Marriage is not merely between two souls in India, but the bond between the two families. In India, broken marriage is a big thing. Marriage has a lot of other variables involved.

If you are marrying the girl you love or the girl your family has selected for you is the first consideration. It will make a lot of difference to this decision. A major aspect of understanding and adjusting with each other cuts down if you marry the girl you love. Things get better for both of them when you marry someone you know.

The second case is when you find an acceptable match for your parents, which is an arranged marriage. In this situation, when everything totally changes for the rest of your life, things get a little complicated and difficult.

In India, children live in the house of their parents, despite being independent. The bride is supposed to move to her husband’s house and live with his relatives, according to Indian culture. This includes a lot of improvements to the man’s home. Things are beginning to function differently now.

How Marriage Problems Occurs These Days?

Relationships had been a blissful feeling. Well, I think relationships are more about hook-ups nowadays than about commitments. We would find someone fortunate in the olden days who was able to find a partner who loved them. Today, on the other hand, every day, people find new love. A huge thank you to the different apps for virtual matchmaking and dating. Many customers come to me with the issue that either their spouse, whether for marriage or any other relationship decision, is not ready to commit. I don’t deny fully that true love doesn’t exist, it does.

The kind of relationship issues I face each day, however, is bizarre. For several, modern-day relationships have become a joke. Nowadays, in the name of love, people just look for joy and excitement.

People just want someone, not someone who can understand us, to watch movies or hang out with. Love is a wonderful feeling, and it is very hard to explain it in words. Without emotions and feelings, we may conclude that love has become just a term. There are many theories why modern interactions struggle.

A very old friend of mine spent ten long years in a relationship with a tall and handsome man. Both of them were well-settled and independent.

One day, however, there was a knock at my door around two in the afternoon. My friend stood there in a very disturbed state, as I went to the door to check. Because of the tears, her eyes were swollen and she was in a pathetic state. I took her in and asked what the problem was. To this, she replied, He left. We’ve broken-up.

I was surprised to hear the answer when I asked her what reason he gave or why he took such a crucial step. A ten-year relationship ended with the guy saying, I have no feelings for you.

You see, if they feel some kind of affection, how simple it is for some people to give up. It takes initiative to leave someone with whom you have been together for six years.

People today are afraid of committing. They find it easier to run away from the relationship rather than mending the chances.

What are the major issues people face in modern marriages?

  • Lust before love

It is one of the most widespread explanations why modern interactions struggle. People think that it’s love, but it’s just lust that they crave most of the time. Individuals are more drawn to the body of the other person and not the soul. We need to really understand the difference between lust and love. The trick is respecting one another, and there should be space for love. Physical relationships can evolve spontaneously until you can grasp each other’s emotions.

  • Not able to stay single anymore

This is probable one of the main reasons that make people come into commitment. People are tired of the single tag on them and that is why they move towards getting committed. But it is high time that the young couples need to understand the seriousness of the issue. You need to make sure that you are ready to take such a responsibility otherwise your relationship will end up in a ruckus.

  • Lack of commitments

It is another major explanation why many modern relationships come to an end, as described earlier. Couples are scared to make commitments today. They promise thousands of things, but they struggle to do so when it comes to keeping those promises. When it comes to marriage, I have seen many individuals end their long relationships. Promises are easy to make, but to meet the promises requires a lot of bravery.

  • In-laws

Sometimes, the bitterness does not emerge from inside the relationship but from external dynamics because of husband-wife dispute, unjust behaviour, differences of values and concepts, misunderstandings that appear to affect the marriage union.

  • Financial issues

Financial challenges may create a pattern of stress and derogatory interactions, disconnection, conflicts, and stresses that the bond partner’s share.

  • Blames

If a few are trapped in destructive chains of accusation, defensiveness, blame-games, and contempt, they are continually eroding the affection, intimacy, and warmth they share.

When do you need to go for marriage counselling?

There is also a stigma related to marriage counselling. Most individuals believe that only couples who are going to split or break up can seek marital counselling. But the truth is, every wedding has its challenges. Many partners may benefit from marital counselling.

marriage counselling

You don’t have to be married, but it’s called “marriage counselling.” Any couple should pursue relationship counselling, regardless of the type of relationship. I intend marriage advice for heterosexual families, gay couples, couples of both sexes, and couples in less traditional relationships (long-distance; open marriages; married, but not living together).

  • For couples who believe they have the same husband wife dispute repeatedly, it’s hard to see eye-to-eye or come up with a solution.
  • Couples who disagree about parenting, financial, or lifestyle decisions.
  • Couples who feel that household roles are unreasonable and cannot figure out how to speak about all of this effectively or come up with suggestions.
  • Couples who feel that they have lost their sexual or emotional chemistry.
  • Couples that sound like they are on their marriage auto-pilot.
  • Emotionally, couples who are embarrassed by or feel like their partner are unavailable.

What leads a marriage to a situation like divorce?

Nowadays , when I get an invitation for a wedding, I just want to bless the couple and family with a happy and lifelong togetherness.

Marriages have become so shattered like cheap Chinese goods. Yeah, no idea how long they will last. In essence, young people have become more intolerant, greedy, alone, open to the world beyond marriage. The numerous other factors leading to divorces have been added to by lack of values, social media, technological progress, keeping away from joint families. The old-fashioned views of remaining in a marriage for the sake of family, kids or culture are no longer dictating how people choose to live their lives.

Women are becoming independent

Gone are the days when women used to put on kilos of sindoor and sing mera pati mera devta hai.

Now, it is the time to make your own identity rather than take the tantrums of any person who thinks he can control your life. This is the reason that women are being told to get educated and continue a profession so that they can lead a respectful life after marriage as well.

  • Marriage Communication

The hormonal rush does not feel the need to resolve major premarital problems initially prior to marriage. I might save many marriages from even occurring because there were many differences between two individuals coming together, such as a place of work, a non-working spouse, a place of stay, family concerns, financial preferences, etc and those in relationship counselling will speak about their serious problems and are now living happy marriages.

  • Cheating and marriages

Exposure in the workplace, travelling with opposite sex colleagues and social media also contributed a lot to extra marital relationships. A family and a partner’s sanctity is not understood.

  • Following Rules After Marriage

Within a week, one of my client daughters who spent millions of rupees marrying her daughter in India broke her marriage as her newly married husband wanted the bride to touch his parents’ feet.

  • Compatibility of sexuality

Medical conditions related to sexual compatibility are often established, unknown, etc. To deal with them and seek medical advice, we need to be careful . Intolerance, swift decisions, egos and complexes, however, lead them to divorce instead of resolving this issue.

When do you feel like your relationship has died?

When the other partner is not reacting properly in a relationship. First, ‘attempts’ were made to preserve the connection or link. In vain, however.

It was just the first person to do so for so long, and now he has given up, too. Since, to enjoy, to treasure, nothing is left to share.

No support for each other emotionally. Need is not sensed. Absence or appearance is not perceived. No nothing here.

I would tell then that the partnership ended.

What is the best approach to relationship problems according to me?

It can be one of the most satisfying experiences of your life to get into a committed relationship. There will also be moments, though, that you will need to make tough choices and you will be faced with a variety of relationship issues that you need to resolve.

There was an elderly couple there once. For a long time, they were married, but the wife suffered from dementia. She wasn’t able to recall anything. But, never did her husband leave, not even for a second. The husband was wounded once while doing some job. To have a bandage done, he went to a nearby clinic. He asked her to hurry-up as the nurse was doing his bandage, as his wife had to wait.

The nurse asked why he was in a rush like that. He said that my wife had to look for me, that I had to go to her, that she had dementia and that she was really ill.

The nurse said, Oh! Then she shouldn’t even know why you’re her husband, why you’re so worried.

The husband answered, Even if she doesn’t know that I’m her husband, I know that she’s my wife, and I need to look after her.

The nurse was shocked to see the sort of devotion and sense of responsibility that the husband had to his sick wife.

You have a variety of key choices when it comes to finding out what the love marriage problem solution to issues could be. You and your partner will sit around and bicker over everything in the world. Although this is seldom successful, sometimes it can definitely be cathartic. Seeing your partner’s eyes rolling in derision if you bring up a subject as touchy as infidelity can also be rewarding.

You may feel like you’re getting away with something, or like, in your rage, you’re somehow justified. The issue with this process, though, is that it perpetuates the issue. You’ll only keep making the stress grow and you’ll never get anywhere instead of seeing it for what it is, and working towards a solution.

Conclusion

Being a life coach, I think forgiveness is the best solution to modern relationship issues. All of your relationships will heal as soon as you learn to forgive.

You and not the other person are released by forgiveness. We get inner mental peace when we forgive someone. Your life is simpler and lighter than most others, if you know how to forgive. Let us practise forgiving and forgetting.

Marriage is a serious relationship that binds two souls forever, but it is also one of the most complex relations […]

Fight Depression: Know the Causes, Signs and Easy Treatments of Depression

Fight Depression: Know the Causes, Signs and Easy Treatments of Depression

Depression still works as a controversial word for many. There are people around the world who think depression is something being wrong in your head. Depression has become a taboo.

In times when we should come ahead and fight this mental illness, people are more concerned about hiding it from the world. Depression is not a joke. It is just like any other physical ailment.

When a person gets sick, the first he does is visit a doctor, get medications and start the treatment. However, when a person has a mental health issue, they hide it from society, try to solve it on their own, and hardly consider visiting a psychologist.

It is where everything goes wrong. Depression, if left untreated can cause damages worse than other diseases. This quote rightly depicts depression,

“ There are wounds that never show on the body, that are deeper and more hurtful than anything that bleeds.”

Once a young client visited me. He was in class 11 when he first realized he had some mental health issues. However, he neglected them thinking it is just a phase.

His parents forced him to take up the science stream in higher studies. The child, however, was never fascinated by the field and wanted to do something in music. The parents were of the orthodox type and thought there was no future in music studies, so, they forced him to take up science.

As he started studying, things started getting worse. He would not understand the lectures and was unable to solve questions. He discussed it quite a few times with his mother, but his father was very ignorant.

Finally, when the mid-sem exams were about the start, the child’s mental health worsened. One, he could not understand anything. Second, the pressure of expectations from his family would stress him. He completely burned out himself trying to cope with everything. The child started getting suicidal thoughts and running away from everything.

On the very first exam, as he sat to give the assessment, he had a panic attack and fainted. His mind could not cope up with his condition anymore.

He was quickly rushed to the hospital, and his parents were called. It was at this time his family realized how they had been ignoring the early signs of depression and anxiety in their child thinking it is just a phase.

The parents finally decided to get him counselled, and it is when they visited me. Today, their son is doing great in music and is in fact working in Mumbai with a top music label brand.

You see, depression can have a very adverse effect on your health. You may not see it immediately, but with time it will spread its roots. It is not like your regular fever where you’ll see the symptoms and take medications.

Depression requires attention and proper treatment. Do not let your depression reach a phase from where there’s no coming back. The sooner you realize this, the better treatment you can get.

What is depression?

Depression, also known as a major depressive disorder is a common and serious mental illness that directly impacts how you feel. It does not show signs and symptoms on the physical body but affects the internal system badly. Most of the time, people ignore the signs to a stage where they become untreatable. However, no matter how severe your depression is, it is always treatable.

Depression influences the way you think or act. It can cause episodes of extreme sadness where you might not even feel like doing something you used to love. Depression is not packed in itself. Soon it starts impacting the emotional and physical health of a person. It can affect a student’s performance in academics or an adult’s performance at the workplace.

Common Causes of Depression

Depression is one of the most common mental health disorders seen in people. Depression can affect a person at any age. Many people think children cannot have depression. However, they are wrong! Most clients that come to me for coaching are very young. It is mainly because of the exposure kids get these days that get affected by mental health problems at an early age.

Depression

There are many different causes of depression, and we cannot particularly blame one cause. The common causes of depression are:

  • Genetics

Many doctors believe depression can be genetic. There is still ongoing research to know if genes can cause depression in the coming generation or not. It is still unknown to science how depression can be linked to genes, but they are sure of a connection between the two.

My mother suffered from chronic depression. Her depression reached a level where she was given electric shocks. Many times when I felt depressed or low, I thought to myself that I have got her DNA. However, I easily overcame my fears and thoughts and so can you. Even if you have a family history of depression, it is in your hands to get past it.

There is no single cause known. In fact, the environment and other factors play an equal role in causing depression.

  1. Hormonal Problems

Well, it is quite commonly seen that hormones play a crucial role in depression. In women, it is seen that hormonal imbalances are a major cause of depression. Also, depression is more prevalent in women than men. It is mainly because hormones play a critical role in female body systems.

Women often undergo extreme hormonal changes during their reproductive years. Whenever the hormones of women are in flux, the chances of depressive disorders increase. It is experienced during pregnancy, childbirth, menstrual period, or other hormonal change phases.

I have seen many women neglecting early signs of depression, thinking it to be hormonal changes. It ultimately becomes their lifestyle. Stress and anxiety remain and worsen their mental health more. Women should get their depression checked as early as possible.

  1. Poor Nutrition

As general as it may sound, many people do not know that their diet affects their mental health. A poor diet can contribute to depression in many ways. It is commonly said that “ What you eat is what you become.”

It is exactly why depression is a by-product of poor nutrition. Diet plays a crucial role in every aspect of your body. From physical health to mental health, your diet can improve your overall well-being.

A balanced diet consists of all the important nutrients. If your diet lacks any types of vitamins or minerals required for the development of your brain, the risk of mental disorders increases.

  1. Stress

Today’s lifestyle is quite stressful for everyone. Each day people wake and follow a fixed stressful routine to be productive. However, this routine is making us hollow from the inside.

Many stressful life events can overwhelm a person’s ability to cope. It can further cause depression. Cortisol is the “stress hormone. ” Regular events of stress increase these hormones and impact a person’s mental health. It further contributes to depression.

  1. Loss of a loved one

Humans have to undergo many emotions each day. From happiness to sadness, from anxiety to relief and whatnot. One emotion that every person finds hard to cope with his grief. It is quite natural to feel depressed after the loss of a loved one.

When I lost my husband during my early years of marriage. I did not know real grief until then. When we lose someone we share our life with, we feel hopeless and empty. It feels like a part of us has left us.

The grief period can cause sleep disorders, poor appetite, and loss of interest in one’s favourite activities. All these are the human way of reacting to a loss. However, these symptoms are quite similar to depression.

When these symptoms prevail for a longer period, it can lead to depression. If your grief symptoms do not subside with time or get worse, it may turn to depression.

  1. Drugs or Substance Abuse

Drugs have become a lifestyle for many people. It is mainly because of social media and wrong television exposure. People from a very young age start doing drugs thinking it is normal.

Another reason is again the stressful lives of people today. The long hour desk-jobs make people stressed, and they find comfort and relief in substance abuse.

Drugs and alcohol extensively contribute to depression. The reliance on these substances for momentary peace has made people forget what real peace means.

It is a common cause of depression in young people. In fact, when people are unable to avail drugs or alcohol, they further experience more depressive episodes.

  1. Changes in brain

Depression is a vast concept. Researchers are unable to find a specific cause of it, but a chemical imbalance in the brain is what is known to be the main reason. If a person has too much or too few brain chemicals, it can lead to depression.

The chemical imbalance, however, can be treated easily through medications. Psychological treatment like counselling or coaching can also be effective and useful in treating depression.

You see, it is quite normal to feel low some days. We all go through highs and lows every day, and there’s nothing to worry about it. The problem, however, lies in keeping low for many days. If you feel anxious or low for more than fourteen days, you should consult a specialist.

What are the signs of depression?

Depression is more about feeling blue throughout the day. It can be a phase of constant sadness. The symptoms of depression might not be obvious initially, but if you’ll witness carefully there are many signs to look for.

Depression can cause a variety of symptoms. From affecting your mood to affecting your body, the symptoms may come and go.

Here are some signs of depression to look for:

  • Mood Swings: The very first sign of depression is a constant change in mood. Many people face these mood swing phases many times a day. The person may feel angry, aggressive, irritated, sad, anxious, or restless in one day.
  • Sadness: A person with depression started feeling empty inside. They feel no one loves them or understands them. This makes them very sad and hopeless. They feel empty and lousy most of the time.
  • Loss of interest: One very prominent sign of depression is the loss of interest in many activities. Many clients that visit me often complain that they do not find their favourite activities interesting. They start feeling tired easily and keep themselves isolated.
  • Suicidal Thoughts: Depression on extreme levels leads to suicidal tendencies. People feel there’s nothing left to live and no one will ever understand what they’re going through. They feel they have no option left other than to take their own life.
  • Sleep Pattern: Another commonly seen depression sign is a disturbance in sleeping pattern. A person would either sleep too much or suffer from insomnia. In fact, most people with depression see the change in sleeping patterns as an early sign. It happens because either a person is too afraid to socialize and meet people that they prefer sleeping in their room, or when a person has no interest in activity.
  • Sexual Interests: Depression not only affects the mental health, but its impact can be seen in many bodily activities. For instance, you’ll see lack of sexual performance or you might lose interest in sex. It is not because of your partner, but your health that this happens.
  • Impact on physical health: After one point, if left untreated, the signs of depression will be visible on your physical health. People may lose weight due to stress and sadness. Other physical symptoms include fatigue or pain in the body. You might start experiencing regular headaches or digestive problems.
  • Reduced Performance: The direct impact of depression will be on your performance. Many clients who visit me often complain that they find it very difficult to do their office work or course work. They feel they have no interest or energy to fulfil their tasks. Sometimes people become introverted and even start avoiding going to the office or school.
  • Lack of Concentration: Depression is connected to your mental well-being. If you are not healthy mentally, you will not be able to concentrate well. So, if you are a student or working in an office, you’ll take longer to do the same tasks that you did in minutes. This lack of focus is thus reflected in your performance. You might start getting lower grades.

These are some easily recognizable symptoms of depression. You may or may not notice them in the very early stages, but these signs grow with time. Depression cannot go away itself, it needs proper coaching. So, if you experience any such sign, consult a doctor at the earliest.
