How to structure your life by creating willful routines?

Most people think of ways in which they can structure their life, to make the most out of it but hardly take the first step. Structuring one’s life starts with changing routine habits.

As it has been rightly quoted,

Make good habits, and then good habits will make you.

Not structuring your life will be much more fatiguing than having a well-structured life. You will exhaust yourself physically and mentally without a plan or a routine.

We know most of you think it is extremely arduous to stick to a schedule, but not having a schedule is even more difficult.

You will end up piling up all your work either from the workplace or home. Once you start a structured life, you will realize how you have been divesting your body of tranquillity and satisfaction.

Why is it important to plan your day?

Life coach Ritu Singal remembers how she used to think that 24-hours were too little for her to work. But with testing time and healthy habits, she conquered those 24-hours with full efficiency.

She remembers how once someone guided her, about the best use of time in fulfilling a task with wisdom and attention.

She was told, if you try to catch three rabbits at a time, and you run after one of them, you’ll lose the other two. In the same way, if you try to be present everywhere, trying to acquire everything at one time, you will not even be able to manage even one of them properly.

Later, when she had to take care of her personal, professional, and social life, she had already realized these are the three rabbits she has to catch and manage each one of them graciously.

You see, this is how some people make the most out of the 24-hours in a day while some just sit and think, 24 hours are too less.

Some points of improvements through planning a routine are:

  1. Firstly, by planning and working on a routine, you will already be ahead of a lot of people out there just wasting their time doing unfruitful activities.
  2. Secondly, creating the right plan will give you ample time to work on your hobbies or just a relaxing time.
  3. Thirdly, you will be able to set priorities. Prioritizing work and doing the important tasks on time will lessen a lot of your burden.
  4. Fourthly, you’ll realize that with each passing day, you are getting closer to achieving your goals.
  5. Finally, you will enjoy the best of your health by creating and sticking to a schedule. A proper bedtime and wake-up time will grant you enough hours of sleep.

How to plan your day?

  • Plan your day a night before

Planning your day a night before, instead of the morning is the best time to plan. Now, if you start planning your day in the morning, firstly, you will waste a small chunk of the day already. Secondly, as the day begins, we tend to assign lesser work to ourselves. If you plan your day the night before, you wake up with a mindset to complete the decided tasks. When you know what you have to accomplish in the day, you can start working towards your goals as soon as you get up.

  • Wake up early

Well, the most essential part to plan your day and structuring your life is to wake up early. Most of us don’t even realize how many precious hours we waste sleeping. We spend almost half our day asleep, especially during the holidays. After losing half a day, we feel guilty about not doing many productive tasks. As quoted,

“Challenging to get up five minutes early is a human revolution”.

  • Create To-Do Lists

The next challenging step to structure your life lies in making prompts and to-do lists for the day. Prepare a to-do list according to the highest to lowest priority works and then stick to the schedule. Not only will you feel your life is more planned, but also you’ll see how active and efficient you feel about yourself. As you’ll keep on doing the tasks, you can tick them on the list. This activity helps you complete your work on time and also helps relieve stress.

  • Weekly Plans

Many people find it arduous to take out time daily for creating a schedule every day. If you are one of them, what you can do is make a weekly plan. No matter how busy you are, you can spare at least 30 minutes on a Sunday to schedule your upcoming week. So on a Sunday morning or night, sit at a tranquil place, check your meetings, assignments, or classes, and sit and write a schedule for the next week. By doing so, you’ll be able to accomplish all your week’s important tasks without stressing. Also, you don’t have to take out time daily by following this routine.

  • Eat the Frog

One of the oldest and most effective ways to attain the best from your day, week, or month is the “Eat the Frog” method. According to this method, you have to schedule and think of the most critical task for your day. When you know this task, then it should be the first thing you accomplish in the morning. It is a very simple method but works wonders! You don’t have to worry throughout the day, thinking that a big chunk of work is still on your back. Also, if there is a particular task you don’t like to do, that you try to linger on as much as you can, you can make it a frog task. The frog task should be your priority and should be completed as soon as the day starts.

How to write daily routine for yourself?

What you do daily becomes your ritual. You have to make sure your daily routine consists of everything from work, to relaxation, to self-care time, to family.

Are you confused about how to write a daily routine for yourself?

Follow these handpicked tips to generate a great schedule to play your day.Step 1: Decide your routine type

Before creating or planning your day, you should decide what type of routine you want. It depends on your profession and your choices. You can decide on working early in the morning or late at night. For instance, if you are a housewife, you’ll plan a day where you’ll cover your kitchen chores, kid’s homework, exercise, and manage other activities. So firstly, you need to decide your routine type.

Step 2: Tell yourself why you need a routine

To stick to a schedule and work on it, you should know why you are creating one. It is always suggested to people to stay motivated no matter what task they perform.

So before writing a routine, you have to remind yourself why you need a plan. When you’ll know the reasons and importance of following a schedule, you’ll work towards it more attentively

Step 3: Prioritize your work

As you sit to write a routine, jot down your tasks according to the priorities in which they are to be done. You should know the most important and the least important tasks that you’ll be doing, and it will be helpful if you schedule your routine according to your priorities.

 Step 4: Time management

An efficient routine is one where you know how to manage each minute of the day. Your list should seize your day. We suggest that activities that can be done simultaneously with other tasks should not be given extra hours of the day. For example, you can listen to your voice mails or emails while traveling instead of sitting and replying to them on the bed. In the same way, you can go for a mini walk during your lunch break. Such time management activities save a lot of time in an individual’s day.

Step 5: Edit your routine

No matter how efficient you think the routine you created is, it will always require regular amendments. Following the same routine will also make you live in a loop. It is crucial to edit and make minor to major changes in your routine after one or two months. You can cut time on some activities and increase time on some other activities. Such edits will bear good fruits.

Step 6: Add self-care

You see when it comes to creating routines; people think it is only for the workplace or workplace tasks. However, when you design an agenda for yourself, it becomes your duty to add some goodness to your day. Apart from your work, you should plan time for self-care activities. You can add time to read a book, listen to a podcast, watch your favorite show, work out, or cook a new recipe.

Step7: Chart out a routine

Now that you know what you have to include in your routine, it is time you map down your roster. You can make a to-do list, create a journal, or simply set a diary to write your routine. Write the tasks to be done first, second, and so on. Make sure you add grooming and exercises or yoga to your routine.

Step 8: Stick to the schedule

To be honest, this is the most difficult step of any routine. Writing an agenda is one thing, and following that agenda is another thing. Once you are ready with your routine, keep yourself motivated to work according to the itinerary. It might take a few days or weeks, but soon you’ll start living according to your roster.

How to structure your life

Bonus Tips:

According to us, to structure your life, you should know about self-control.

What you can do is, know your boundary of laziness. Some bonus tips to do so are:

  1. Put a healthy snack on your work desk. Each time you’ll feel hungry, you’ll eat it instead of ordering an unhealthy snack.
  2. Put a phone time limit for yourself and your family. Make it a rule to not see screens post 9 P.M or whenever you feel convenient.
  3. Read a book or journal in your free time. While doing so, make sure your phone is in another room, so that you don’t have to spend every 10-minutes using it when a message pops.
  4. Do not burden yourself with loads of work. Give your mental health a priority. Distribute work in a way that you get time for mindfulness activities like yoga or meditation.
  5. While planning a routine, do not forget to give yourself 7-8 hours of sleep. Your body will work more efficiently, and you will bring fresh ideas to the table only if you have taken enough rest.

Why Career Counselling is More Valuable Now Than Ever Before

We try to make a progressive world today, where technologies are thriving. There are lots of chances with several fields where one can make an enhanced career so career counselling online offers guidance to a person to have a strong indication on what to chase and how much duration it will take. Because of the current coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, many individuals are facing layoffs, pay freezes, and staff reductions as companies shut their doors or reduce resources. Despite the overwhelming need to apply for a new career right away, it is strongly advised that job seekers take a few days to think accordingly and strategize about how to better continue.

Create your dream job or status by thinking about your profession — where you are now and where you want to be in the future. Consider your talents, interests, and what you can give the general public, consumers, and employers at this moment.

We are often asked what advantages a person can gain from career counselling. People who are deciding what subjects to learn, making their first career decisions, or considering a career change ask this question.

What is Career Counselling?

In existing times, career counselling is a necessity as most learners pick usually known domains as their career choice. Career counselling online is a strength for students’ career assistance right from their school about the existing career choices as per their curiosity and stream of academics.

Through career counselling, a study can be done for students which will support them in finding out their benefits and also their strengths and weaknesses.

Why Is Career Counselling Important?

Career advice and counselling by a life coach will assist you in achieving desired outcomes in your present work, establishing and achieving personal goals, assisting you in making a career transition, and even assisting you in starting your own company.

A job coach does not instruct you what to do; instead, they help you understand what matters to you and how to accomplish your goals. They have a variety of methods, simulations, psychometric assessments, and personality analyses to help them do this.

Young people today have more problems with their lives than older people. In their early twenties, I see a lot of young people who are upset, angry, and tired of the situation and do not have any idea about career planning.

As a life coach, I’ve counselled a lot of people. To my surprise, the number of young clients seeking counselling has far outnumbered the number of elderly clients. Today’s children are depressed and nervous.

They developed all of the bad habits and abuses as a result of their depression and anxiety.

I will share the story of my client. Her husband was an entrepreneur who had a lot of success. Unless the company suffered a setback, and the entire business was doomed. Since he had always valued success, he didn’t know how to deal with setbacks now.

He was spoiled as a child, so he never learned to cope with adversity. When things began to go wrong, he decided that suicide was the only choice for him. He wanted to end his own life because he was too afraid to deal with the fallout.

The wife being a mature person brought her husband to me and I did career counselling for the couple. After listening to their stories I was shocked how casually they were taking their life. But then with counselling sessions, they both realised the mistakes and today they are back again. I feel so happy to see them grow with completely new confidence in them.

Clarify Your Career Goals With An Expert Help

It is because of the initiatives you have championed in the past that you are who you are now. Whatever the future holds, the causes you want Will indeed shape it.

Since you haven’t said what you do, As a result, I am unable to advise you about what you should do. However, one thing is certain:

“THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU SHOULD DO”

Do some internet marketing, take an online course, pick up some new skills, read books, and write books.

That will, without a doubt, get you more credibility today and more money in the future.

When it comes to career counselling online I have seen people taking a step back and assuming that they know everything.

“I want to be free and self-sufficient. I don’t want to be dependent on anyone to make my wishes come true. “It’s my life; it’s my decision.”

These are the most famous dialogues used by people who want to do great things in life. Everyone’s primary concern is their career planning, which must be addressed at the appropriate time.

Believe Yourself So That The World Can Trust You

In our most recent coaching talk, one of my clients, who works at a multi-national sports brand organization as a senior mid-level executive, shared with me his issues.

My client: I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my career growth. The last role I played had a lot of chances for me to shine, but I just didn’t take advantage of them. I had the opportunity to do so much more, but I choose not to. What a waste! Then there was that international assignment I did last year, and oh my goodness, I followed some bad advice and just did what was asked of me. For me, it was a dream assignment, but I didn’t do it justice. Once again, I failed miserably.

Me: What do you think is going to happen to you? I inquired.

My client: I know I am capable and want to do so many things, he responded, but I’m not sure what happened to me, and I don’t feel like doing it. I know I should be optimistic, take initiative, and go the extra mile, but I still fall short. I don’t have the energy to do it. There’s something wrong with me. He went on to discuss his mistakes and missed opportunities.

Me: Can I share an observation with you? I asked after listening for a moment.

My client: Sure, please do, he replied.

Me: I’ve been listening to you for a while now, and even from previous conversations, I hear you constantly talking about your failures and missed opportunities, I added. I can hear you constantly criticizing yourself. I haven’t received a single compliment about yourself or your career growth. Is there a justification for this?

He was blank with tears rolling down his eyes. I counselled him and explained to him the importance of choosing the right career and staying calm. Today he is a well-settled entrepreneur. This is the power of career counselling online.

Things To Consider Before Changing Careers

Are you trying to make a career change or switch? These pointers can come in handy if you decide on career planning. Make the best choice possible before changing careers.

Career CounsellingA person’s career is likely to change at least once during his or her lifetime. For many people, this can be a life-changing experience. So, before making such a decision, the first thing that comes to mind is, “Why do you want to change careers?” This question’s response is an important part of the entire switching process, and it differs from person to person. There are only a few big explanations for this:

  • Career Advancement

Some people find their jobs boring and begin searching for better opportunities as early as the beginning of their careers. They become trapped in their current career due to a lack of advancement opportunities.

People complain about job overload at their jobs, which causes them stress. This can lead to a lot of tension and dissatisfaction. According to an article in ‘The India Times,’ a survey found that 60-80 per cent of working professionals in India suffer from high levels of stress.

One of the most significant factors leading to this cause is career burnout. Burnout is a state in which you have to drag yourself to work because your job does not bring you pleasure or satisfaction. This can lead to increased stress levels, which can have a negative impact on your physical and mental health.

I remember one of my friends who were so talented and experienced was going through a bad phase in his job. all his juniors were getting promoted but because of his lack of confidence, he was the one who was laid back. I had a word with him and counselled him so that he can gain his confidence back. Talking to a coach can help you find new ways. today he has switched his job and got placed in a higher position and is happily working. It feels so good when I see him as a successful person with a boost of positive energy in him.

  • Salary

A good salary will lead to a healthier lifestyle and higher living standards. As a result, a person’s overall income is a common explanation for changing careers.

One of my clients got so disheartened that he resigned from his job. Already the companies are laying off their clients and he was not able to find any other place that can offer an equivalent salary. This is the reason I always say that it is better to take advice from a professional rather than acting in a hurry and ending up with wrong decisions. Though with proper counselling he joined a new job but had to work really hard to sustain.

  • Stagnation Problem

When a job provides you with a good paycheck that covers all of your needs and services, a pleasant work atmosphere, and a variety of benefits and compensation, you are more likely to stay put at that job rather than looking for other opportunities.

You become used to the situation, and the desire to learn or improve diminishes. Stasis can be a major challenge in the ever-changing job market and with technological advancements, as these developments can render you obsolete. As a result, it should be closely monitored, and when it’s time to adjust, it should be changed.

After reading all of these points, you should be able to recognize the primary reason for your desire to change careers. Half of the work is done after you’ve identified the problem. CONGRATULATIONS!

Mistakes To Avoid In Life

Career stress, test stress, relationship issues, money problems, family worries, and other issues plague young people. Let’s admit it: a lot of young people make a lot of mistakes, and one of them is having unreasonable standards and no career planning.

Here are a few mistakes you can avoid making as soon as possible to avoid being lost in life at a young age:

  • It would be beneficial if you avoided having unreasonable aspirations for the future.

What you see in film and television shows is made up. It’s best if you imagine yourself as a character in a realistic film as you get older, or you’ll be disappointed.

  • It is preferable if you make plans for your future.

The majority of young people are too lazy to plan ahead and choose to go where life leads them. Always keep in mind that if you take life seriously, life will take you seriously as well. Make a financial plan for yourself and work hard to achieve your objectives.

  • Stop fantasizing about the past.

You will face situations in life that will both hurt and break you. An individual who knows how to move on and live for the future, on the other hand, will be successful in life. Young people want to live in the past, reminiscing about a traumatic event in their lives.

  • Take care of your mental, emotional, and physical well-being.

If you want to accomplish anything in life, you must maintain a positive attitude and be optimistic. An individual who is not safe will never achieve his or her objectives. Your wellbeing has a significant impact on your life, but it is often overlooked. Begin to put money into yourself and your wellbeing.

  • If your business isn’t providing you with any value, it’s time to find a new one.

Friends play an important role in one’s growth when they are young. Since young children tend to listen to their friends rather than their parents, the young one’s company is essential. It is best to break ties with your friends until it is too late if you believe they are not helping you develop or are involving you in inappropriate activities.

  • When you’re young, don’t put too much stock in relationships.

As a Life Coach, I am aware of how seriously today’s youth take their romantic relationships. When you’re young, you have a lot of things to do. You must enjoy life, but investing everything in a relationship while you are young is a dangerous mistake.

  • Take advice from those around you and make healthy decisions.

One of my ancestors was a womanizer and alcoholic. He had two sons in their mid-twenties. Parents teach their children. While one of his sons learned about the dangers of alcohol and resolved to never drink again, the other followed in his father’s footsteps. Study what is right and wrong for you when you are still young and make the appropriate decisions for a bright career. Get career counselling online and understand the better option for you.

What Happens In A Career Counselling Session?

A career counsellor can assist an individual in exploring abilities and talents, considering experience levels and providing guidance on continued education, as well as determining priorities and personality style during a career therapy session. Counsellors can also administer an IQ test or an aptitude test. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator has also been found to be helpful in determining potential career paths dependent on personality characteristics.

Possible conversation starters in job counselling:

  • Special abilities or gifts. What professions would they be useful in?
  • Various professions require different levels of educational engagement.
  • The earnings capacity in different occupations.
  • Functional conditions on a regular basis. Some people thrive in an office setting, while others thrive in a fast-paced or outdoor world.
  • The possibilities for career improvement or promotion in a specific field. Any profession is more adaptable than others. Lawyers and doctors, for example, may change their emphasis or area of expertise, but they will still be lawyers and doctors in general. Other professions or educational pathways can allow for more versatility within a sector.
  • The qualifications and preparation needed for the desired profession.

How Can Career Counselling Help You In Future?

You cannot and will not be told what to do by a job consultant or mentor. They don’t have pre-packaged remedies that you can use as a Band-Aid to solve any of your problems.

They assist you in identifying challenges and remedies that are now available to you. The most valuable takeaways you can expect from a life and career coach are objectivity, clarity, and decisiveness.

They pay attention and listen critically without passing judgement. They make you understand the weight of being trapped where you are and the many options available until you are unstuck based on what and how you think.

It’s all too tempting to depend on the advice of friends and colleagues, or even your own instincts, when it comes to career preparation, rather than seeking expert advice and assistance. However, it’s likely to have issues exploring a career that isn’t truly right for you if you do this. You may be confused about your job opportunities or searching for a shift, whether you’re a beginner with no work experience or a seasoned professional with several years of experience.

15 Personal Life Goal Examples and Ways to Achieve Them

For most of our awake time, we are focused on the outside and seldom get time to focus on ourselves.

We set distant life goals like cracking that exam, having that coveted car, purchasing a new house, getting the promotion and whatnot. These goals are very admirable and have the capacity to change our lives forever.

But, just as an ocean is made of countless single drops, the long term goals are made up of small personal goals that are achieved daily and regularly.

A reputed Life Coach Ritu Singal often quotes the moral of the famous Aesop’s tale about a race between a hare and a tortoise, “slow and STEADY wins the race.” She emphasizes being steady and says, “to achieve personal goals in life, it is important to be regular, punctual, and consistent in taking small steps if you wish to cover long distances eventually.”What are Life Goals?

Personal goals in life are the milestones that tell you you are on the right path.

They help you understand life and fulfil its purpose by bringing a balance in it and taking the stress out of it.

You become self-motivated, positive and cheerful with personal goal setting and goal achievement. Here are some personal goals examples:

  • I will learn a new recipe every week
  • Wake up at least 30 minutes early in the morning and go out for a 30-minute walk
  • I will record daily if I was angry or frustrated with someone, why did I react to it or manage it
  • I will devote 2-hrs each week to maintaining my garden

Life Coach emphasizes that your goal setting should be S.M.A.R.T. as in:

  • Specific – Goal must be specific and not vague
  • Measurable – If you can’t measure it you cannot track your progress
  • Achievable – you cannot set a goal to do a spacewalk in a year’s time!
  • Relevant – All goals must align towards your long term goals
  • Time-bound – always assign a realistic time frame for goals to be achieved

focusWithout making your personal goals in life S.M.A.R.T., you cannot expect to achieve them sooner or later. They would be as good as most New Year’s resolutions.

Simple and small goals bring you closer to success, every day, one step at a time.

You can have short-term or long term goals. They can be divided into multiple categories depending on the aspects of life they impact most visibly.

  • Personal Improvement
  • Professional Life
  • Family Life
  • Financial Life
  • Social Life

Whatever the category, each goal affects all aspects of life.

Personal goals can nourish your soul, mind, body, and whole persona.

This translates into better financial opportunities and more reliable and sustainable rewards.

Personal Goals Examples to Help You Set Your Own Goals

Certified Life Coach has shared some of her own personal goals as examples with us to help our readers understand how these goals can follow the S.M.A.R.T. strategy and become an aid in achieving the larger and long term goals.

  1. Empathise

As a Life Coach meets many people with varied problems and expectations.

People in a problem look at it from a static perspective and have trouble looking at it from a different point of view, they cannot look at the obvious solution.

If someone is troubled for a very long time, they might think that it is the end of life and there is no way out or no one to help them.

She provides solutions to these and many other troubles by making them aware and releasing of the true problem and its solutions.

The answers to all such issues emanate from the empathy shown to such people.

Just like a great sculptor once said, “the statue was already in the stone, I just removed the extra baggage and brought out the hidden masterpiece,” she acts as a catalyst bringing out the best in them.

2. Practice Active Listening

Hearing is not listening and listening is different from Active Listening.

Active listening requires you to actively show to the speaker that you are not only listening but making all efforts to understand. You rephrase, nod and concur, with their points if you agree.

Or you raise doubts & questions to debate all aspects of the matter at hand.

In the process, you and the speaker both gain knowledge, mutual respect and trust. Active listening requires paying attention and showing you truly value others’ opinions.

3. Face Ambiguity

We make irrational decisions when faced with uncertainty and ambiguity. Uncertainty and unknown have been our biggest fears since we lived in cages.

Life Coach makes her clients play out all the possible scenarios that can happen in a situation. You can also watch her video on how to face a difficult situation. She makes them write such scenarios with their likelihood of occurring. Then like a game of chess, she makes them write further future scenarios.

Once done, the participants feel more confident about the future. This confidence comes from the fact that they have now materialised and given shape to an unknown and can now see it more clearly. Especially the worst-case scenarios and prepare for the same.

4. Know Yourself

She is a spiritual person actively practising passive and active spiritual techniques to bring her mind to a state of nothingness.

In this state, she professes; she can see herself as she is, without any prejudices, masks and social conditionings.

This helps her become a better person and Life Coach than she was the last day.

Getting along with you is a requisite to getting along with others. In her workshops, she practices such spiritual techniques to help her clients see the same blissful state.

5. Let Go

Our tendency to cling to our past and anxiety over the unknown future are two hooks that pull us down.

They are the biggest obstacles in our personal growth and success, as they make our judgement cloudy and irrational.

She suggests practising the Buddhist technique of “Let Go” by literally actively letting go of something special (every week) and visualizing that you are ridding yourself of a past memory or anxiety while doing so.

The act has to be real and physical to make a strong neural impact on our brains for a lasting influence.

6. Read 20 Pages Daily

All successful people learn from the mistakes of others and don’t repeat them. They learn about those mistakes and tricks to avoid them by reading a lot and on a variety of subjects. If you don’t read, then set a goal of reading at least 10 pages daily in week 1, then 15 in week two and going up to 50 pages daily.

Nothing has ever had more influence on the human mind than the collective wisdom contained between two hardcovers. She often quotes Mark twain to her clients and friends “a person who does not read, is no better than a person who cannot read.”

7. Early to Rising

Life Coach points out that most successful people start their day early.

They exercise, meditate, connect with the self, and gain energy to last a long gruelling working day of 14-18 hours.

You may not need such a long working day but getting up early and walking alone will make you look much younger than you are. And that is a good enough motivation in itself!

Add meditation and a healthy breakfast, and you have a super energy combo.

Early risers are more cheerful, healthy, and productive than others.

8. Walk for 30 Minutes Daily

Once you wake up early, you’ll have too much time, so use it to increase your wealth!

You know, health is wealth!

Hit the road “running” and walk, jog, do yoga, join a gym, do anything but sit and home and sip tea or coffee.

Scientists suggest that by working out in moderation for at least 160-200 minutes per week, you can put at bay the risks for heart diseases, obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, and even depression.

If you don’t have enough time in the morning, then make sure to walk on your calls, every time, during the day and then walk in the evening, daily.

Even at the office if you don’t absolutely need to, and then keep standing. Even take and attend meetings standing to make them sharp, focused and to the point.

9. Be Visible

If you are one of those who are never missed at any gathering, then it is time to speak and be visible.

To be seen and respected, you first need to be heard.

Set a goal to practice for 15 minutes talking about your opinion and ideas with impact in the meeting.

Write a sequence of concepts and ideas you will discuss ahead of each meeting and prepare a set of relevant and pertinent questions to ask after studying the agenda.

10. Connect with at least 3 People this Week

Professional networking is what takes one ahead of others. It is so important for career development, that Dale Carnegie wrote a book on it!

Make a goal to connect with at least 2 people who are not already in touch for the last 4 weeks, and 1 person who is out of touch for at least 6 months.

To add spice, set a goal to connect with a new person each month and attend 2 networking events this quarter.

11. Give Back

Nature and our society have given us many things to be thankful for. We owe our successes to many seen and unseen people working to make it possible for us to be here in a position of strength.

As a conscientious and able member of it, it is now our turn to contribute to its well-being.

Set a goal to dedicate 2 to 4 hours every week for community service in any form – teaching at local school, coaching kids in sport, serving food and clothes to the homeless, caring for the homeless and stray animals.

12. Paying-off Debt in 6 Months

Debt for investment like business or home is an investment that is expected to grow and benefit the debtor in the long run.

On the other hand, debt for cars, personal expenses and credit cards are consumption expenditures with no future value. They have become so easy, that people are getting into the debt trap.

Life Coach tells that many young clients of hers are deep in debt, on the noose of EMIs and are living paycheck to paycheck.

It is one of the foremost reasons for stress and family discord in their lives.

So, set a goal for clearing all credit card dues in 2 months, all personal loans in the next 2 months and all auto loans in the next 2 months.

Promise yourself that you will only spend on essentials till you have paid off 100% of the unsecured and short-term debt on consumption expenditure.

13. Limit Screen Time

When we are at home we stare at our mobiles or indulge in TV. Even at the dining table, everyone has their phones in one hand and no one relishes the food and enjoys the company.

We continuously stare at screens for the most part of our work with most of it being done online.

Doing so becomes our habit so much so that we need it while driving or in the loo! We need to see anything on our screens, even if it is filth.

She suggests limiting the screen time at home to 90 minutes and gradually reducing it up to 30 minutes.

This gives us more time with family and relieves the stress on our eyes.

With this strict limit in place, we will watch only what is absolutely necessary.

14. Eat Green

“A healthy mind resides in a healthy body”, she often quotes.

Having a nourishing rich diet with fruits, vegetables, nuts, cereals and dairy will keep you fit, active and boost your immunity.

Make a goal to have raw salad as part of lunch and dinner and eat one seasonal fruit daily.

15. Declutter

Cluttering and hoarding indicate our deep attachment, possessiveness and longing for the past as well as a tendency to put important things off.

Ritu Singal shares the story of a young client who was constantly in a state of irritation, confusion and depression. He could not see a pencil on a typical office desk or find the appointment in his diary.

This made him the butt of jokes in the workplace and further instigated his irritation. His depression got severe each time he saw his friends enjoying their success and companionship.

With the help of psychological tools, questionnaires and exercises, he learnt that he has a habit of “hoarding” things and cannot let anything out of the home, no matter how old or broken it was.

She made him realise that profess’ mind and home are as sacrosanct as a bank locker. If you don’t keep any rubbish in the bank locker, why would you collect it at home or in your mind?

The very experience of giving away to complete strangers filled the client with love and compassion. It changed him into a cheerful and positive person. Today, after 3 years, he is a founder of a successful startup.

Clutter at the workplace is seen as a sign of laziness and lack of attention. Decluttering and letting go of hoarded items are very cathartic and intense in impact.

Every week, before beginning new, give 15 minutes to declutter your space and every weekend before leaving the office give/throw away an old item long past its use.

Conclusion

Goal setting, the life coach insists, is an important step to deciding what you want to achieve in your life by separating important from irrelevant.

It motivates yourself daily and consistently, as it gives you small accomplishment moments on achieving a short-term goal.

The self-confidence and energy will sail you through the most uncertain times to finally reach your long term goals.
